Sleep Study Program

Seminole Hospital District is pleased to offer in-house Sleep Center services for diagnostic and treatment of breathing disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea or sleep disorder breathing. The in-house Sleep Center service provides comfortable hotel-like rooms that are equipped with a queen size bed, private bathroom, and a flat screen TV.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a common sleep disorder. OSA is caused by the relaxation of the throat muscles that causes your airway to become blocked by your tongue, uvula, tonsils, and the upper soft palate.  Obstructive Sleep Apnea or sleep disorder breathing causes the airway to be partially or completely blocked. This causes breathing to shallow or stop causing unwanted awakenings during the night. Snoring, excessive daytime sleepiness, tiredness, fatigue, and drowsiness are just a few of the associated symptoms.

SIGNS OF OSA:

  • Loud snoring that disturbs bed partner
  • Choking or gasping while sleeping
  • Morning headaches
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Frequent awakenings
  • Frequent trips to the bathroom at night

If you feel that you may have some of the above symptoms of OSA, contact your primary care physician or Seminole Family Medical Clinic at (432) 758-1155 for more information. A referral is required from your primary care physician for a sleep study.
