Software Support Technician (Temp position)

The position of Software Support Technician provides support to all users of Seminole Hospital District (SHD) clinical information systems.  The Software Support Technician will participate in Informatics and IT Department project(s) to support new and installed clinical systems throughout the SHD.  The Software Support Technician will be a participant in new implementation(s) and/or upgrade(s) of clinical systems. This position is temporary – will be approximately 6 – 9 months in duration.

Supervises: No one

The Software Support Technician will be responsible for end user support of clinical information systems and clinical data requests. The Software Support Technician will work with district departments to establish efficient clinical workflow.

  1. Software Support Technician will participate in planning, testing, implementation, and ongoing support activities.
  2. Implement solutions, maintain, troubleshoot, and resolve issue when needed.
  3. Fulfill requests for new user logins, deactivations, and changes per department processes.
  4. Maintain user databases.
  5. Work with IT team as needed.
  6. Provide system training and education as needed to new and existing end users.
  7. Assists with table file building and system set-up procedures and ongoing maintenance thereof.
  8. Educate staff of upcoming, critical software updates and changes.
  9. Assists Clinical Applications Specialists with installing and managing software updates as needed.
  10. Works with Director and Informatics team to ensure the timely and safe implementation of new applications and upgrades.
  11. Continual maintenance of all clinical systems and automation.
  12. Continually works to improve application software in alliance with hospital mission and strategic plan.
  13. Works with implementation team to ensure proposed changes to existing systems are successfully completed.
  14. Develops and assists with providing reports from all clinical systems.
  15. Creates and maintains order set build and clinical documentation templates to reflect constant changes as needed.
  16. Active member of the Clinical System User Group.
  17. Performs other duties as required by director.

  1. 1+ years healthcare experience preferred.
  2. Experience with clinical software applications preferred.
  3. Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) preferred.
  4. Project management experience preferred.
  5. Will consider other educational / experiential preparation for the position.
  6. High School graduate or equivalent.
